Though short, this sweet tale packs an emotional punch that anyone (human or mer) can relate to. The author’s voice is perfectly fairy tale and just right for this story about a lonely man who’s suffered and is still seeking his one and only.
Francis is so lonely–and even in the few words of description, the reader can’t help but feel compassion and empathy for his plight. We root for him immediately–and we want him to fins someone special. Not just anyone, either. Enter Wick–the merman with quite possibly the most fabulous hair ever (I’m jealous).
I loved seeing the men’s journey–and the author’s creativity in bringing them together with the inherent hurdles of man/merman love. Great job.
If any complaints, I would have wished for a longer story and more detail about the “change”, as it left me wanting details. I would love to know Wick’s backstory! He is such a great character. (and I hate to say that is a complaint–because wanting MORE is, to me, the highest compliment).
I will go buy more of this author’s work–this is the first book I have read. I really enjoyed the book!
