Romance Writers of America National Conference…New York City…
I feel like I’ve been packing for days. I really haven’t. I’ve been *thinking* about packing for days. It’s exhausting. Today, I actually started putting things into suitcases. I really hate this part! What if I forget something I really need? I know I will pack too much (seriously, I know I don’t need six pairs of shoes for four days). I hate packing!
So now, it’s all packed except the last toiletries and medicines (please, no migraines while in NYC), and tomorrow, I can relax. I don’t leave until Wednesday morning. I’m finally getting excited. I glanced at the workshops–so many fun ones! Bollywood? YES! (“Bollywood Basics: Romance Tips from the World’s Largest Film Industry to Help Turn Your Book into a Blockbuster (RESEARCH) Speakers: Sonali Dev, Nisha Sharma, and Suleikha Snyder Discover how to use the tools and tricks from Bollywood blockbusters to develop and shape your romance novel. The presenters will discuss devices to ramp up chemistry, conflict, and drama using family, culture, and setting elements in your story, with plenty of examples from favorite Bollywood movies.”) Brilliant, ladies, just brilliant! I can’t wait!
Lots of amazing workshops planned–more exciting than I ever remember seeing on the schedule. It’s going to be a very busy and fun time!
I’m looking forward to seeing Taye Diggs in Hedwig and the Angry Inch with my friend Louisa. Last time we were at Nationals together, we went to see Marilyn Manson in concert. We know how to have fun!
Here’s hoping everyone’s travels go well, and safely!
