I received a review copy of this book via the Goodreads Don’t Buy My Love program in exchange for an honest review.
Geoffrey is having a bad Valentine’s Day. He’s broken up with his jerk boyfriend, Brian, and is “wallowing” at a local bar. Paul arrives at the bar wanting to take Geoffrey home with him. He’s wanted Geoffrey for a long time, but with Geoffrey’s string of boyfriends, he hasn’t had a chance. He’s furious with Brian for exploiting and hurting Geoffrey.
Paul does take Geoffrey home and the sex is fantastic for them both. I liked that Geoffrey was a “regular guy”–not all men are Adonai! 🙂 His physicality added to his characterization. The men embark on a sex-filled ride on the way to finding a HEA–both are unsure of how to act, except in the bedroom. When light BDSM elements are added, things take a turn in a different direction.
I liked this story. It was very well written, with few editing issues. A couple of times, I got lost with who was doing what to whom, but upon re-reading, I figured it out.
This is a good, hot short story. The hints of backstory and characterization are here–I would have loved more. I liked Geoffrey a lot. He really stood out. I didn’t bond as much with Paul, though I did like how he stood up for Geoffrey.
I would have loved for this story to be longer, but that is no criticism. There is so much opportunity here–I would read a novel about these characters.
